Traditional Whole Turkey

Price range: £140.00 through £180.00

Our Bronze and white-feathered birds are truly free-range. They live as a wild turkey would: out in the meadow and woodland, scratching in the ground for seeds, insects and whatever the season offers, dust-bathing, and hopping up onto logs, bales and low branches. A natural cereal feed sits alongside that forage — Wheat, Barley and herbs, with no growth promoters — and the birds are grown slowly, to full maturity. Then dry hung for a truly exception flavour

That life is what you taste: succulent meat with real depth,. Our customers come back year after year, collecting from our shops for the same  turkey on the table they remember from childhood.

Description

Turkey is not an old English bird. It arrived from the New World in the 1520s and was on Henry VIII’s table soon after. Thomas Tusser was already listing “turkey well dressed” among the Christmas meats in 1573. For a long time it stayed a luxury. Ordinary households ate goose — cheaper, familiar, and fattened for the season.
